Dance Heaven
Wright & Gray Architects have recently worked closely with Wellington Dance and Performing Arts Academy to convert and renovate the old Dobbins Furniture building in Thorndon Quay, central Wellington. The popularity and success of the Academy has given rise to this rare opportunity. Planned are 3 large lofty studios, viewing galleries and waiting areas. The building’s raw honesty of materials and rhythmic structure plays out its own delicate balance of dance and performance. Stark white walls contrast against the beautiful layered complexity and texture, creating great interest. The new spaces will provide a fine backdrop to the colourful and vibrant activity within them to come. We are delighted to show you some moments of construction work in progress, as the building receives new life. |
