Second Storey Addition to a 1920's Bungalow

"The owners of this bungalow planned to live in it for many years. For them, a large extension was a sensible alternative to moving from a home and location that they loved"

Successful addition projects can work equally well, either by contrast or in harmony with the existing building.

Here the solution seamlessly extends the existing, so that the completed home has integrity of form and detail inside and out. We took the bungalow aesthetic and extended it just a little further.

The owner has an eye for quirky and colourful decorative objects, and we have provided special places so suit their display.

"The brief was to design an upper storey that fitted in with the existing style of the home - a 1920s bungalow. This involved taking our sketchy ideas and turning them into a working reality.
Wright & Gray did this to our full satisfaction helping us to realise along the way some enhanced features that we had not originally envisaged.
Wright & Gray also assumed responsibility for managing the building project thus relieving us of a potentially burdensome responsibility.

Throughout a positive, congenial and professional relationship was maintained. We in our turn would have no hesitation in recommending Wright & Gray Architects Ltd's services."
